Ethan Journey
🧳 Travelling
Hey, everyone, Ethan here! So, I’ve just got to tell you about this incredible backpacking adventure I had in China. Between the rich history, the fascinating culture, and—wait for it—the food, this trip was one for the books.
I'll dive straight into the food first because, well, Chinese food is just too amazing to wait. I started the trip in Guangdong and, let me tell you, the dim sum there? Mind-blowing. You've got these fluffy buns, steamed dumplings, and the famous Cantonese BBQ pork buns. And for someone like me who's all about food, Guangdong was heaven on Earth. You could practically smell the deliciousness wafting through the air at every street corner.
Now, no backpacking trip would be complete without a little adventure, right? So from Guangdong, I made my way up to Beijing, and guys, it’s like stepping into a time machine. One minute you’re walking through ultra-modern streets, and the next, you’re face to face with ancient history at the Great Wall. That juxtaposition is something I found incredibly mesmerizing.
Oh, and speaking of the Great Wall, yes, I hiked it. Donned my trusty backpack, filled with just the essentials, and headed up the winding stone steps. With each step, I couldn't help but think about all the generations that had come before me, walking those same steps. It’s the kind of experience that makes you feel small but connected, you know?
But what I loved most about Beijing, aside from the Peking Duck—which by the way is an absolute must-try—was the sense of community. In the Hutongs, which are these narrow alleys, I met locals who’ve been living there for decades. They'd gather around tables playing Mahjong, their laughter echoing down the ancient corridors.
So, what's the takeaway from all of this? Traveling, at its core, is about experiences and connections. It's about trying new foods that explode with flavors you didn’t know existed. It’s about exploring places that make you rethink history. And most importantly, it’s about meeting people who, even if just for a moment, make you feel like you're a part of something much bigger than yourself.
If you ever get the chance, put China, especially Guangdong and Beijing, on your travel list. It’s a journey that will stick with you long after you've returned, and hey, you might just find a new favorite dish along the way.
